Making Disciples

Christ Command

Christ's last words to His disciples before he ascended into Heaven was a command, a commission which He expected His Disciples to fulfill. He believed they would want to fulfill this commission.  He believed they could no longer go and live life as they had, but would be committed to fulfilling His last words, His commission, His mission.

This commission, this command, this mission is Christ commission, Christ's command, Christ's mission for us today. God does not force us.  If we are truly born again, we can no longer go and live life as we had, but we will fill compelled, to fulfill Christ's commission.
Matt. 28:18-20  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age

Christ Authority:

The base of the command is Christ Authority.  Christ Authority empowers us and enable us to be His Ambassadors, to be His witnesses to go and share the truths of God.  This is what we read in the book of Acts.
Acts 1:8
"
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere"

Go:

Each disciple is to intentionally and purposefully go.  To go out and meet people who do not know God. To seek ways to share with others the truths of God. To find way to help others discover the joy of knowing God and leading them in the truth so they can make a commitment to become a follower of God.

All Peoples:

Skin color, country of origin, language is not to be a barrier or determining factor as who we are to go to. We are to go to all all people groups and share the truth about God with them.

Baptize:

Each disciple should be able to share about fundamentals of the faith with someone who desire to know God more and commit their life to God.  This mature believer or disciple maker should be able to help a new believer make a knowledgeable and intelligent decision about making Christ Lord of his/her life.  To help them make the personal decision to become a Christ follower. The call to Baptize is a call for the disciple maker to teach a person in the ways of God and how to incorporate the things learned into their daily life. Then when this new believer has understood sufficiently what it means to be a Christ follower and they now want to make a public declaration that they are "Born Again", that they are now a Christ Follower and they want to be fully part of and committed to the local Church, to help them in achieving this goal, this commitment.

Teach:

Learning about God is life long habit that should be part of every Christians life.

To teach another person about the truths of God a nature process in the life of every believer.  We are all learner and we should all be teachers.  A Disciplemaker is someone committed to spending time with someone who desire to know God more,  teaching them the great truths of God, the great truths in God's  word. The Disciplemaker is someone mature in his/her faith and has sufficient knowledge about God's word and is able to share what he/she knows with another person.

This command to teach is not related to the teaching and instruction a person may receive in a Sunday School class, a Bible Study or from the Sermons preached on Sunday. The command to teach is done one on one.  It is teaching an individual and helping this person know God more and apply the truths to his/her life.  To teach is call for one person to be intimately involved in Discipling another in the truths of God, committed to walk alongside a New Born Again believer so they can know God and be fully prepared to obey God in all aspects of his/her life

To Obey:

Vertical Divider
The goal of Making Disciples is to Make Christ followers.  To be a Christ follower, means being obedient to God's command, to God's word and that continue process of learning how to apply God's truth into one daily life.
This graphic shows that Disciple Making is a process and it is based upon a relationship.  One can not make a disciple without having a relationship. Discipleship is a process and is accomplished through time and within a relationship.

People come to know God and understand the truth of God thru the close relationship that is developed with a person whom they have come to know and trust.

We are committed to helping each person become a true follower of Christ thru a discipleship relationship.

One of the best means for this process to begin is thru A242 Groups or small groups.
